baking blunders

I took the kids I’m watching on a hike down to the Potomac River today, which was lovely although quite buggy. I think with my natural mosquito attracting abilities, I managed to get most of the bites. Oh, the sacrifices…

Then I headed over to Katie’s for a spur-of-the-moment baking experiment. We got our cake all stuck in the adorable mini-bundt pan, so they didn’t come out nearly as nicely as we’d planned, and then our attempts at homemade icing just turned from runny goop (where did all the powdered sugar GO?) into a huge mess. Ah, well. I can’t say no to fresh-out-of-the-oven yellow cake, no matter what form it’s in.
